This is Storm. Storm is approximately 3 years old. She was born in the street, and never knew a kind human touch until being rescued and taken into foster care. Storm is a very skittish kitty and will need patience and love to become all she can be. She is still learning to trust humans, and as such tends to be independent fending for herself until she requires your attention. She was found during a storm so that is what we named her. Storm enjoys the company of other cats but is not sure about dogs. She is healthy now although her life truly did not start out that way, somewhere along the line she lost her tail, we are not sure how this happened, but it gives her a little quirk of character that makes her all the more endearing. Storm has been in foster care for a very long time and patiently awaits the day that she can leave for her forever home. Will that home be yours? A foster or permanent home is needed for Storm.
The usual Let’s Adopt conditions apply:
1. Family MUST have at least one other animal.
2. Storm will be an indoor cat. Access to garden is a plus but not essential.
3. Storm will eat a raw diet. www.rawfedcats.org

Meet Buster and Patches!
Imagine this. You are driving down a desolate stretch of North Dakota highway when you notice two dogs running down the side of the highway towards you. You pass them. When you look in your rear view mirror, you see that they have turned around and are running in your direction.
What do you do?
If you are a rescuer or an animal lover, your knee jerk reaction is to pull over and help them. And this is exactly what one of our members did. She stopped. There were no houses in sight and no cars on the road. The dogs were thin, matted, filthy and covered with sores and ticks. She and her friend put the dogs in the back of her car.
They stopped at the nearest farm house and, through a phone call, the dogs’ story came out. Buster and Patches belonged to Jerry.
To him, they were the world. He took them everywhere he went; his companions; his closest friends. But Jerry passed away the week before. His funeral service was that day, an hour from the time they were found.
Jerry’s family did not want Buster and Patches. They planned to destroy them. They had locked the dogs in the barn, but they escaped.
When they were found running down the highway that Thursday morning, they were already 25 miles away from home and still running. It’s as if they knew what fate awaited them if they stayed.
So with everyone’s okay, Buster and Patches went home with Robin to lower Saskatchewan.
It’s been three weeks now. Though they still show signs that they miss Jerry and their old life, they are adjusting. They have been groomed and de-ticked, and their sores are mostly healed. They are vaccinated and fixed.
And now they are searching for a loving family.
Buster (above) is a Brittany mix, about 4 yrs old. Patches (right) is a lab/collie mix, a bit older but not much. Their foster mom says they are well-behaved, good boys. (Click photos to see larger image. Or click here to see more photos.)
Are you the family for them?
Let’s Adopt! conditions for adoption:
1. Family MUST have an existing animal.
2. Animal MUST live inside the home, not on the garden.
3. Animal MUST be fed raw (http://rawlearning.com).
We do not apply an adoption fee. One can’t buy any Let’s Adopt! dog or cat.

Survivor
Sookie was a shelter dog. A tiny black thing trying to survive in a putrid shelter.
And the floods changed everything. Hundreds died.
Sookie survived.
International adoptions are, to most, a terrible waste of time and resources.
Well… not to our hundreds of rescues. To them an international adoption is the chance to a life that was denied in their country of origin.
Please share this on your profiles… allow everyone to see what one can achieve when you apply determination and passion to whatever it is you do…
We have lots to do, many Sookies to save… Please join Let’s Adopt! and become a contributor to the Simba Fund.

It starts with a dream, a visualization, an idea… and a belief in that idea.
You take a step… and another step… and another.
Then people with the same dream step into the journey with you… and you build a community of people driven by this shared passion.
I rescue one, you rescue two, we re-home three and start again. More people join. More people rescue and more people re-home. It’s a dream coming true.
Here are some of our successes… thanks to our many dreamers.
“When we are dreaming,
alone it is only a dream.
When we are dreaming
with others, it is the
beginning of reality.”
~ Dom Helder Camara
This is but the beginning of our dream to empty all the shelters and all the rescues of their animals. With your help, we can get this done sooner than later.

Note: The title of this post comes from a quote by Carl Sandburg.
I have to admit that I am always smitten by the underdog rescues. The ones that can test your meddle, but heap you with such passionate rewards.
The first time I saw photos of Gülümser*, I was in love with her.
The first words I said were, “She’s beautiful!”
They just came from somewhere inside my heart as I looked at her on my computer screen from thousands of miles away. The damages she suffered on the outside were extraordinary, but the message in her eyes transcended them.
I could see such strength in her character and a curious, gentle personality glowing through her horribly disfigured face. She had been devoured by worms when she was just four weeks old. The vets treating her decided that if SHE wanted to fight back, she would be given every chance to survive. And survive she did!
I featured her in a post a few days ago.
Today, I received new photos of Gülümser and I wanted to share with you this beautiful little girl’s photo gallery. The first photo is so funny… she loves water!
Though I have never met Gülümser, I am thankful to the rescuers — from Let’s Adopt! and the vet’s clinic to her new family — for giving her the support she needed to show all of us what she is truly made of. She really is beautiful!
Here’s a link to her photo album, but be forewarned, there are some graphic images in this album.
Hugs to YOU, Gülümser! You look mah-velous!!!
And a shout out to Let’s Adopt! USA for their excellent post on the care and feeding of orphaned kittens.
Ciao, Holly
*Gülümser means “one who always smiles.”

Coco’s luck
Dear Friends,
Most of you remember Coco…
She was found paralyzed by the side of the road. We looked for the reason and found out she had a bullet lodged in her spine.
Most people would have either dumped her in a Municipal shelter or put her to sleep. The best case scenario for her would be to live attached to a wheelchair.
Not us….
Please click HERE and see what happened with Coco…Please watch the video till the end. It is in German but this is one of those occasions where images speak for themselves. I can GUARANTEE you will cry with joy.
We thank all of those who were involved in this operation, we couldn’t have done anything without you.
We are currently working on the process of sending some of our rescues to their final homes overseas. If you want to be a part of it we will be thankful for your contribution to the Simba Fund.
Best
